Mark has been a member of North Coast since at least 1996 and I suspect a couple of years at least before this. He left us to go to Southern Cross for 4 years and then joined the club again in 2006. His early time with the club he was Treasurer for one season in 96/97 and Secretary for one season in 1997/98. On rejoining the club he joined the committee again first as a General member for at least one year, 2007/8 and maybe two (Can’t find the year book for 2006/7) He then stepped up and took the role of Vice President for the last 2 years.
He has always continued to compete tirelessly through his long time in the sport, racing in Max Grieve Classics, Club Aquathlons and Duathlons, TWA Series races and has completed 8 Busselton HIMs. He also has competed most years in the interclub Champs at Mandurah. Mark has worked with dedication and persistence for the club and its members on and off for the last 14 years. He can always be relied upon to give a helping hand when something needs to be done, but he also has contributed to the club by driving projects on the committee and making sure commitments are met by the club. In particular this last two years he took on the role of liaising between the Junior Development Committee and the main club committee with the City of Joondalup Grant, due to circumstances this role increased hugely beyond expectations, but he always stepped in and filled the gaps left by others to ensure it was successful and met our obligations to the City of Joondalup.
Mark is someone who is not afraid to commit to something to assist the club and having once committed will always see it through to its finish. He is keen to always look for ways to improve the service of the club to its members and use best practices to achieve this. He continues to set an example to other club members of commitment, improvement and determination to see something through whether in his training and racing or his committee work.
